ABOUT ME

After serving 22 years in the Royal Air Force as an Electronic Technician, I left in 1999 and, after working for 3 years as a Business Account Manager with PC World, started with a doctors surgery as the IT Manager.  Following a diagnosis of stage 3 lung cancer in early 2019 (currently into my second year of remission), I semi-retired, now only working 2 days per week (surely most people's dream).

I started my interest in photography in the mid 1980's using slide and negative film and it has been a main interest ever since.  I started taking concert images while still in the RAF and, due to my huge interest in Blues music, spent the late 1980's and the 1990's attending gigs and festivals.

During this time I wrote for and supplied images to various magazines including Juke Blues, British Blues Review, British Blues Connection and others, as well as providing artists and record companies with images for promotional purposes and CD covers.  I have also had images published in a couple of books.

During the 2000's I have concentrated mainly on landscape images, some of which are also on this site.  Another interest I have is pre-history, especially the neolithic, and it was because of wanting to get a different perspective of these sites that I first purchased a drone, the Mavic Mini.  I quickly decided that I had to have the Mavic 2 Pro, which has superb optics and is a dream to fly.  It also allows me to produce RAW images and 4K video.

Since that time I have also developed an interest in videos and video editing.  I created a YouTube channel, initially to show my family, but it is now starting to grow.  I also started the creation of this website as most of my images are stuck either on my hard drive or on slides/negatives and very rarely viewed.

Growing more seriously interested in flying the drone for videos and photography, I trained with UAVHUB to pass my A2 CofC and joined FPVUK to further my education.  This also allows me to fly in areas that I would not otherwise be legally able to.
